Emotional well being through individual therapy

For 30 years, I have been helping adults with depression, anxiety, life-stage transitions, relationship issues, parent-child problems, post-traumatic stress, loss and grief, and family of origin issues. Psychotherapy can provide a safe place to examine the past and understand the present, and can contribute to a greater sense of resilience, emotional well being and increased self-esteem.

A course of individual therapy with me includes an objective focus on your needs, while providing support and accompaniment. We will explore your unique history, including your specific developmental history, and the history of your experiences and relationships. I will help you identify new tools and strategies for managing the issues in your life, which may involve developing a new perspective or understanding of your circumstances.

The personal growth that can be achieved from individual therapy includes:

Support for life transitions

In addition to understanding and managing difficult conditions like depression and anxiety, or working on concerns that are unique in your life, therapy during major life transitions can be beneficial and can minimize or eliminate future problems.

There are many life stage events and important developmental moments when it can be crucial to reflect on your choices, identify unfinished business, and make fully conscious decisions. Understanding the normal stresses that accompany life stage events and fully exploring your reaction to these events can transform a potential crisis into a transformational experience.

This transformation usually involves understanding the past and examining the present in order to shape the future. In a therapy process this can result in making a sort of personal map: seeing where you have been, seeing where you are now, and identifying where you want to go from here.

I have extensive experience helping individuals with the following life passages. Please call me at 831-423-7027 if you would like support making a successful transition.
